The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once stood among us and delivered a discourse in which he did not leave out a single thing that would occur from that moment until the Day of Resurrection without mentioning it. Whoever remembered it, remembered it, and whoever forgot it, forgot it. These companions of mine know it well. Sometimes a part of it slips my memory, but when I see it happen I recall it, just as a man recalls another man's face when he has been absent and then recognizes him upon seeing him again.
قام فينا رسول الله ﷺ مقاما، ما ترك شيئا يكون في مقامه ذلك إلى قيام الساعة إلا حدث به، حفظه من حفظه، ونسيه من نسيه، قد علمه أصحابي هؤلاء، وإنه ليكون منه الشيء قد نسيته، فأراه فأذكره كما يذكر الرجل وجه الرجل إذا غاب عنه، ثم إذا رآه عرفه.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Divine Decree (6604), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations and the Signs of the Hour (2891:23), both of them through routes from Amash, from Shaqiq Abu Waail, from Huzaifa, and he mentioned it. The wording given here is Muslim's.
