The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "After me there will be tribulations like patches of dark night, striking a man the way charging bulls collide head to head. A man will be a Muslim in the morning and a disbeliever by evening, or a Muslim in the evening and a disbeliever by morning."A man among the Muslims asked, "Messenger of Allah, what should we do when that happens?"He replied, "Stay in your homes and keep yourselves out of sight."Another man among the Muslims asked, "What if someone enters our home?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let him restrain his hands. Let him be Abdullah the slain, not Abdullah the slayer. For a man may be living under the shelter of Islam, then he consumes his brother's wealth, sheds his blood, disobeys his Lord, and rejects his Creator, and so Hellfire becomes his due."
Ibn Abu Shayba (38585), Abu Yaala (1523), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (1724) all narrated it through the route of Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram, from Shahr bin Hawshab, who said, "Jundab bin Sufyan narrated to me," and he related it.Its isnad is hasan because of Shahr bin Hawshab, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan as long as nothing contrary is shown. Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram is also trustworthy, and he is one of the closest companions of Shahr bin Hawshab. Ibn Hajar also graded it hasan in Matalib Aliyah (4341).Jundab bin Sufyan is Jundab bin Abdullah bin Sufyan, and he is sometimes attributed to his grandfather. He is al-Bajali. See his biography in al-Isabah (1231).
