During the turmoil involving Uthman bin Affan, he said, "I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There will be a time of turmoil in which the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing will be better than the one walking, and the one walking will be better than the one running.'"Someone asked, "What if a man enters my house and stretches out his hand to kill me?"He replied, "Be like the son of Adam."
عند فتنة عثمان بن عفان: أشهد أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إنها ستكون فتنة، القاعد فيها خير من القائم، والقائم خير من الماشي، والماشي خير من الساعي، قال: أفرأيت إن دخل علي بيتي وبسط يده إلي ليقتلني قال: كن كابن آدم.
Tirmidhi (2194) and Ahmad (1609) both narrated it from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Layth bin Saad narrated to us, from Ayyash bin Abbas, from Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj, from Busr bin Saeed, that Saad bin Abu Waqqas said, then he mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith."
