The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be trials in which the one sitting is better than the one standing, the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one running. Whoever exposes himself to them, they will sweep him away. So whoever finds a refuge or a place of shelter, let him take refuge in it."
Bukhari related it in Manaqib (3601), and Muslim in Fitan (2886), both from the hadith of Salih bin Kaysan, from Ibn Shihab, from Ibn Musayab and Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, that Abu Hurairah said, then he mentioned it. Muslim also related it through another route, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, with the wording, "There will be a fitnah in which the one who is asleep is better than the one who is awake, and the one who is awake is better than the one who is sitting, and the one who is sitting is better than the one who is standing up striving in it. So whoever finds a refuge or a shelter, let him take refuge in it."
