He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Tell me, if there were a river at the door of one of you in which he bathed five times every day, would any dirt remain on him?"They replied, "No dirt would remain on him at all."He said, "That is the likeness of the five daily prayers. Through them Allah wipes away sins."
Bukhari narrated it in "The Times of Prayer," and this is his wording (528), and Muslim narrated it in "Mosques" (667), both through Yazid bin Had, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Abu Hurairah, who related the hadith. In another version, "The five prayers are like a flowing river at one of your doors, in which he bathes five times every day. What would be left of his filth?"Ahmad narrated it (9692) through another sahih route from Abu Hurairah.
