I prepared some food and invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came, but when he saw a curtain that had images on it, he left, saying, "The angels do not enter a house in which there are images."
صنعت طعاما، فدعوت رسول الله ﷺ فجاء، فرأى سترا فيه تصاوير، فخرج، وقال: إن الملائكة لا تدخل بيتا فيه تصاوير.
Narrated by Nasai (5351), and this is his wording, and Ibn Majah (3359), both from the hadith of Hisham Dastawai, from Qatada, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Ali, who mentioned it.Similar in meaning is what was reported from Umm Salama, who said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Angels do not enter a house containing a jaljal or a bell, and angels do not accompany a travelling group that has a bell with it.'" Narrated by Nasai (5222) from Yusuf bin Saeed bin Muslim, who said, Hajjaj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Sulayman bin Babiyah, freedman of the family of Nawfal, informed me, that Umm Salama said, and she mentioned it.Sulayman bin Babiyah is majhul (unknown). No one narrated from him except Ibn Jurayj, and no one deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban.Similar in meaning is also what was reported from Ibn Umar, from the Prophet ﷺ, that he said, "Angels do not accompany a riding party that has a jaljal with them." Narrated by Ahmad (4811) and Nasai (5220), both from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, who said, Nafi bin Umar Jumahi informed us, from Abu Bakr bin Musa, who said, I was with Salim bin Abdullah, and Salim narrated, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it. This hadith has other routes with Nasai from Nafi bin Umar Jumahi with his chain of transmission.Its chain is daif because of the obscurity of Abu Bakr bin Musa, who is Bukayr bin Musa Sahmi. No one narrated from him except Nafi bin Umar, and no one deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban, so he is counted among the majhul narrators. For this reason Dhahabi said in al-Mizan, "He is not known."
