Usama bin Zayd reported,

Ali reported, "I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and saw him in a state of grief. I asked him what was the matter, and he said, 'Jibreel has not come to me for three days.'"Then suddenly, a puppy was found between his rooms. He ordered that it be killed, and it was killed. Then Jibreel appeared to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ hurried toward him when he saw him and asked, "Why did you not come to me?"Jibreel replied, "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images."

عن أسامة بن زيد

قال دخلت على رسول الله ﷺ وعليه الكآبة، فسألته ما له؟ فقال: لم يأتني جبريل منذ ثلاث. قال: فإذا جرو كلب بين بيوته، فأمر به، فقتل، فبدا له جبريل عليه السلام، فبهش إليه رسول الله ﷺ حين رآه، فقال: لم تأتني؟ فقال: إنا لا ندخل بيتا فيه كلب ولا تصاوير.
