Busr reported, on the authority of Abu Talha, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The angels do not enter a house in which there is an image."Busr said, Zayd later fell ill, so we went to visit him, and there at his door was a curtain with an image on it.I said to Ubaydullah, the stepson of Maymuna the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, "Did Zayd not inform us about images the other day?"Ubaydullah replied, "Did you not hear him when he said, 'Except a pattern on a cloth'?"
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5958), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing (2106: 86), both from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, "Layth narrated to us, from Bukayr, from Busr bin Saeed, from Zayd bin Khalid," and he related it.His saying, "except a design in a garment," means that the design in the garment refers to what is depicted in it that is not of living beings, such as the depiction of mountains, trees, and the like.
