Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

A man from Bahrain came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him, but the Prophet did not return his greeting. The man was wearing a gold ring and a silk garment. He removed them both, then greeted him again, and this time the Prophet ﷺ returned his greeting. The man said, "Messenger of Allah, I came to you just now and you turned away from me."He replied, "There was a burning ember of fire on your hand."The man said, "Then I have come bringing many embers indeed."The Prophet ﷺ said, "What you have brought is of no more use to us than the stones of al-Harrah, but it is merely the enjoyment of worldly life."The man asked, "Then what kind of ring should I wear?"He answered, "A ring of iron, silver, or brass."
