The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from wearing a ring on this finger or this one. He gestured toward the middle finger and the one next to it.
نهاني رسول الله ﷺ أن أتختم في إصبعي هذه أو هذه، قال: فأومأ إلى الوسطى والتي تليها.
It was narrated by Muslim in the book of clothing and adornment (2078: 65), from Yahya bin Yahya (that is, Nisaburi), Abu Ahwas informed us, from Asim bin Kulayb, from Abu Burda, who said, Ali said, and then he mentioned it.This prohibition applies specifically to men, as the scholars have stated. Nawawi said, "The Muslims are unanimously agreed that the sunnah is for a man's ring to be worn on the little finger, whereas a woman may wear rings on her fingers." Sharh Sahih Muslim.
