The Prophet ﷺ woke up one night saying, "There is no god but Allah. What trials have been sent down tonight, and what treasures have been sent down. Who will wake the occupants of the chambers? How many are clothed in this world yet naked on the Day of Resurrection."
استيقظ النبي ﷺ من الليل وهو يقول: لا إله إلا الله، ماذا أنزل الليلة من الفتن، ماذا أنزل من الخزائن، من يوقظ صواحب الحجرات، كم من كاسية في الدنيا عارية يوم القيامة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing (5844), from Abdullah bin Muhammad, who said, Hisham told us, Mamar informed us, from Zuhri, who said, Hind bint Harith informed me, from Umm Salama, and he related it.He added at the end, Zuhri said, Hind had buttons on her sleeves between her fingers.Regarding his statement, "How many a woman is clothed in this world but will be naked on the Day of Resurrection," many explanations have been given for this. One of them is that she is clothed in garments, but they are transparent and do not cover her private parts, so she is punished in the hereafter with nakedness as a recompense for that.Regarding the statement, "Zuhri said..." and so on, it is connected to the preceding chain of transmission. Hind bint Harith was al-Firasiya, though she is also said to be Quryashiya. Hafiz said, "The meaning is that she feared that some part of her body might show because of the wideness of her sleeves, so she would button them so that nothing would show from them, and thus she falls under the meaning of the statement, 'clothed yet naked.'"
