The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a gold ring on me and ordered me to throw it away, so I threw it away, and I have not worn one to this day.
رأى رسول الله ﷺ علي خاتما من ذهب، فأمرني أن أطرحه، فطرحته إلى يومي هذا.
Ahmad (18290) narrated it from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Husayn, from Salim bin Abu Jaad, from a man among us from Ashjaa, and he mentioned it. Its chain is sahih. Husayn is Ibn Abdul-Rahman Sulami, Abu Huzayl Kufi. Abu Hatim said, "Trustworthy and reliable, among the leading scholars of hadith." The anonymity of the companion does no harm.Ahmad also narrated it (22336) from Ali bin Asim, who said, Husayn narrated to us, from Salim bin Abu Jaad, from a man from his people, and he mentioned something similar, adding to it, "I only commanded you to enjoy it, not to discard it." Ali bin Asim bin Suhayb was criticized by Ibn Madini, Bukhari, Aqeeli, and others, and it is said that he makes mistakes and insists on them, so perhaps he erred in mentioning this addition.
