The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid his family from wearing jewelry and silk, saying, "If you love the jewelry and silk of Paradise, then do not wear them in this world."
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يمنع أهله الحلية والحرير، ويقول: إن كنتم تحبون حلية الجنة وحريرها فلا تلبسوها في الدنيا.
Narrated by Nasai (5136), Ibn Hibban (5486), and Hakim (4/191), all through the route of Ibn Wahb, who said, Amr bin Harith informed me that Abu Ashana Maafiri told him that he heard Uqba bin Amir reporting, saying, and then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs." Abu Ashana's name is Huyayy bin Yumn Misri, and the two Shaykhs did not narrate from him, but he is trustworthy.This hadith serves as a means of encouraging its people toward restraint regarding excess in permissible matters such as clothing, food, and the like, otherwise jewelry and silk are lawful for all women.
