Ahmad narrated it (2856), and from his route al-Hakim (4/192), from Muhammad bin Bukayr, who said, Ibn Jurayj told us, Ikrima bin Khalid (meaning Ibn al-As bin Hisham al-Makhzumi) told me, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih. Al-Hakim graded it sahih, meeting the standard of the two Shaykhs.Ahmad also narrated it (2951), and Abu Dawud (4055), by another route, from Khaseef, from Saeed bin Jubayr, and from Ikrima the freedman of Ibn Abbas, from Ibn Abbas, that he said, "The Prophet ﷺ only forbade a garment of pure silk, that is, a solid silk garment. As for a garment whose warp is silk but which is not solid silk, we see no harm in it. The Prophet ﷺ only forbade drinking from a silver vessel."The wording given is that of Ahmad, while the wording of Abu Dawud is abridged.Khaseef is Ibn Abdul-Rahman al-Jazari, Abu Awn. He was accused of poor memory, but he did not err in this case, since Ikrima bin Khalid corroborated him in the first isnad.His saying "solid" refers to a garment that is entirely silk, with no cotton, wool, or anything else mixed into it. And his saying "the warp of the garment" refers to what is stretched lengthwise in the weave.
