Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, Utarid Tamimi keeps a silk garment for sale. Why not buy it and wear it when delegations come to you?"He replied, "Silk is worn only by one who has no share in the Hereafter."
أن عمر قال: يا رسول الله إن عطاردا التميمي كان يقيم حلة حرير، فلو اشتريتها فلبستها إذا جاءك وفود الناس، قال: فقال: إنما يلبس الحرير من لا خلاق.
Ahmad (8444) and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (2997) both narrated it from the hadith of Salim bin Dinar Abu Jamee, who said, "Muhammad bin Sirin narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Salim bin Dinar, for his hadith is hasan.
