The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No prayer is accepted without purification, and no charity is accepted from wealth taken from war spoils unlawfully."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تقبل صلاة بغير طهور، ولا صدقة من غلول.
Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (1/133, no. 252) from Muhammad bin Miskin, who said, Yahya bin Hassan told us, who said, Sulayman told us, from Kathir, from Walid, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Bazzar said, "We do not know of it being narrated from Abu Hurairah except through this chain, and it has been narrated from Kathir by someone other than Sulayman."I say, and among those other than Sulayman is what Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Hazim narrated, from Kathir bin Zayd, with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma narrated it (8/1, no. 10) through the route of Abu Ammar Husayn bin Hurayth, who said, Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Hazim told us, with the same wording.Regarding Kathir bin Zayd Aslami, Hafiz Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (1/227), "Ibn Hibban and Ibn Main, in one report, deemed him reliable. Abu Zura said he is truthful but has some weakness in him, and Nasai deemed him daif. Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ammar Mawsili said he is reliable." End of quote.I say, he is among the men of Tahdhib, and the compilers of the Sunan works, other than Nasai, have narrated from him. The statement of Ibn Main about him varies. Abdullah bin Dawraqi narrated from him that he said, "There is no harm in him." Muawiya bin Salih and others narrated from him that he said, "Salih." And Ibn Abu Khaythama narrated from him that he said, "He is not much." Among those who also deemed him daif is Yaqub bin Shayba, who said, "He is not that far gone, but he tends toward weakness." Abu Hatim said, "Salih, not strong, his hadith is recorded." As for Imam Ahmad, he said of him, "I see no harm in him." Ibn Adi said, "Copies of his narrations are transmitted, and I see no harm in him, and I hope he is not problematic."The summary regarding him is that his hadith is graded hasan. Hafiz said of him, "Truthful, but he errs." I hope that he did not err in this case, due to its corroborating reports. Ibn Khuzayma narrated it (9) with another chain, through the route of Ibn Ammar, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned the hadith with the same wording.
