The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fond of the henna blossom, and the food he liked most was gourd.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كانت تعجبه الفاغية، وكان أعجب الطعام إليه الدباء.
Ahmad (12546) narrated it from Abdul-Samad, who said, Sulayman, that is, Ibn Kathir, told us, Abdul-Hameed told us, from Anas, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Sulayman bin Kathir, who is al-Abdi al-Basri, a disputed narrator, but his hadith is hasan when he does not err.His saying, "al-faghiyah," comes from fagha, yafghu, faghwan, meaning its blossom opens up. It is also said that a thing "fagha" when its scent becomes apparent. Al-faghiyah specifically refers to the blossom of henna, and to the blossom of any plant with a pleasant scent. The blossom of henna is among the most fragrant of scents.It has also been established that the Prophet ﷺ used to treat illness with henna as well, and this is documented in the book on medicine.
