The Prophet ﷺ commanded that the moustache be trimmed closely and the beard be left to grow.
عن النبي ﷺ أنه أمر بإحفاء الشوارب، وإعفاء اللحية.
Malik narrated it in the Hair (1) from Abu Bakr bin Nafi, from his father Nafi, from Abdullah bin Umar, and he mentioned it. Muslim narrated it in the Purification (259:53) from Qutayba bin Saeed, from Malik bin Anas, with the same chain, and he mentioned it.
