Fatimah bint Abu Hubaysh suffered from continuous bleeding, so she asked the Prophet ﷺ about it. She said, "Messenger of Allah, I bleed continuously and never become pure. Should I abandon the prayer?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "That is only a vein, not menstruation. When your menstruation comes, leave the prayer. When it ends, wash off the traces of blood, perform ablution, and pray, for that is only a vein, not menstruation."He was asked, "What about the full bath?"He answered, "That is something no one doubts."
Nasai (217) narrated it from Yahya bin Habib bin Arabi, who said, Hammad, that is Ibn Zayd, told us, from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it. Nasai said, "I do not know of anyone who mentioned in this hadith 'and perform wudu' other than Hammad bin Zayd. Others besides him narrated from Hisham and did not mention in it 'and perform wudu.'" That is what he said. But it has already been established that Abu Muawiya was also among those who narrated this addition from Hisham bin Urwa.On this subject there is also a report from Adi bin Thabit, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "She should leave off prayer during the days of her menstrual periods when she used to have her period, then she should perform ghusl and perform wudu before every prayer, and fast and pray." Abu Dawud (297), Tirmidhi (126), and Ibn Majah (625) all narrated it through Sharik, from Abu Yaqzan, from Adi bin Thabit.Tirmidhi said, "This hadith was narrated solely by Sharik, from Abu Yaqzan. I asked Muhammad about this hadith and said to him, 'Adi bin Thabit, from his father, from his grandfather, what was the name of Adi's grandfather?' Muhammad did not know his name, and I mentioned to Muhammad the statement of Yahya bin Main that his name was Dinar, but he paid no attention to it."Abu Dawud said, "The hadith of Adi bin Thabit, and that of Amash from Habib, and that of Ayub Abu Ala, are all daif and not sound."On this subject there is also a report from Ayesha, who said, Fatimah bint Abu Hubaysh came to the Prophet ﷺ, and she related her account, and he said, "Then perform ghusl, then perform wudu for every prayer, and pray." Abu Dawud (298) narrated it from Uthman bin Abu Shayba, Waki told us, from Amash, from Habib bin Abu Thabit, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Ayesha, and he related it.Habib bin Abu Thabit is trustworthy, deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main and Nasai, except that he engaged frequently in mursal narration and tadlis. It has been said that he did not actually hear directly from Urwa.
