Abdullah bin Masud reported,

He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade two manners of dress. As for the two manners, he said, that a man sit with his garment wrapped around him in such a way that nothing lies between him and the sky and his private parts touch the ground, and that he wear a single garment, gathering its sides and placing them on his shoulder. This latter manner is called Samma.
