I visited Ayesha, and she brought out for us a thick lower garment of the kind made in Yemen, along with a cloak of the type they call al-mulabbadah. She then swore by Allah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away in these two garments.
دخلت على عائشة فأخرجت إلينا إزارا غليظا مما يصنع باليمن، وكساء من التي يسمونها الملبدة. قال: فأقسمت بالله إن رسول الله ﷺ قبض في هذين الثوبين.
Bukhari related it in the Book of the Fifth of the Spoils (3108), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing (2080:34), both from the hadith of Humayd bin Hilal, from Abu Burda, who mentioned it.His saying, "al-mulabbad," means the patched garment. The patch used to mend a shirt is called a "lubda."
