Ibn Jurayj said to Abdullah bin Umar, "Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have seen you do four things that I have not seen any of your companions do."Abdullah bin Umar asked, "What are they, Ibn Jurayj?"He replied, "I have seen you touch none of the corners of the Kaaba except the two Yemeni ones. I have seen you wear sandals made of tanned leather without hair. I have seen you dye with yellow. And I have seen that when you are in Makkah, the people enter the state of ihram when they sight the new moon, but you do not enter ihram until the Day of Tarwiyah."Abdullah bin Umar replied, "As for the corners, I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch any but the two Yemeni ones. As for the tanned leather sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing sandals that had no hair on them and performing ablution while wearing them, so I love to wear them. As for the yellow dye, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye with it, so I love to dye with it. And as for the ihram, I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enter ihram until his mount set out with him."
