Sahl bin Saad reported,

A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ with a woven cloak that had its border still attached. Do you know what a burdah is? They said, "It is a shamlah." He said, "Yes."She said, "I wove it with my own hands and have come to clothe you with it." The Prophet ﷺ took it, as he was in need of it, and came out to us wearing it as his lower garment.A certain man admired it and said, "Give it to me to wear. How beautiful it is!"The people said, "You have not done well. The Prophet ﷺ wore it because he needed it, then you asked him for it, knowing that he never refuses anyone."The man replied, "By Allah, I did not ask for it to wear it. I only asked for it so that it might be my burial shroud."Sahl said, "And it became his shroud."
