I made a black cloak for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he put it on. But when he sweated in it, he caught the smell of the wool and cast it aside.The narrator said, I believe he also said, "He used to love a pleasant fragrance."
صنعت لرسول الله ﷺ بردة سوداء فلبسها، فلما عرق فيها وجد ريح الصوف فقذفها. قال: وأحسبه قال: وكان تعجبه الريح الطيبة.
Abu Dawud (4074) and Ahmad (25003) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (6395) graded it sahih, all of them from the hadith of Hammam bin Yahya, from Qatada, from Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin Shikhir, from Ayesha, as mentioned. Its isnad is sahih, and it has also been narrated through a route other than Hammam, from Mutarrif, as a mursal report.
