The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah bestows a blessing upon a servant, He loves to see the effect of that blessing on him. He dislikes wretchedness and the pretense of wretchedness, He detests the persistent beggar, and He loves the modest, chaste, and self-restrained person."
Bayhaqi narrated it in Shuab (5791), and Abu Naeem in Akhbar Isbahan (1/78), both from the hadith of Isa bin Khalid Balkhi, who said, Warqa told us, from Amash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Regarding Isa bin Khalid Balkhi Khurasani, Amr bin Ali (that is, Fallas) said, "Isa bin Khalid Khurasani told me, and he was trustworthy." Jarh wa Tadil (6/275).Its chain is hasan because of Warqa, who is Warqa bin Umar Yashkuri, Abu Bishr Kufi, a truthful narrator. However, Bayhaqi said, "There is some weakness in this chain." He was perhaps pointing to the fact that Warqa bin Umar Yashkuri narrated this alone from Amash, and Amash is one of those from whom many narrators transmitted. People differed concerning Warqa bin Umar, Ibn Main and others considered him trustworthy, while Yahya Qattan considered him daif.I have included this hadith in Jami Kamil because, despite this sole transmission, there is nothing objectionable in it, since its individual statements have sahih foundations that I have mentioned in their proper places. The hadith has another chain as well, which is what Ahmad narrated with two chains (8107, 9234) from the hadith of Sharik, from Ibn Mawhab, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah loves to see the mark of His favor upon His servant." Its chain is daif.Ibn Mawhab is Yahya bin Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Mawhab (with a fatha on the meem and the ha), who is daif according to the majority of hadith critics. Ibn Hibban said, "He relates from his father things that have no basis." And in Taqrib, it says, "Discarded (matruk)." Haythami faulted him for this in Majma (5/132). As for his father, Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Mawhab, Ahmad said, "He is not known."
