The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is the son of Adam, and this is his appointed time," placing his hand at the back of his neck. Then he stretched his hand forward and said, "And out there are his hopes, out there are his hopes."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: هذا ابن آدم، وهذا أجله، ووضع يده عند قفاه ثم بسطها فقال: وثم أمله، وثم أمله.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (2334), Ibn Majah (4232), and Ahmad (12444), and Ibn Hibban (2998) graded it sahih, all of them via Hammad bin Salama, from Ubaydullah bin Abu Bakr bin Anas bin Malik, from Anas bin Malik, who narrated it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
