Ibn Hibban narrated it (694), and Tabarani in Mujam al-Awsat - Majma Bahrayn (4921), both through routes from Amash, from Abu Waail, from Abu Musa, as mentioned. Its chain of transmission is sahih.As for what has been narrated from Abdullah bin Masud, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Be shy before Allah with the shyness that is His due." He said, we said, O Messenger of Allah, we are indeed shy, praise be to Allah. He said, "That is not it, rather being shy before Allah with the shyness that is His due means that you guard the head and what it contains, and the stomach and what it holds, and that you remember death and decay, and whoever desires the afterlife abandons the adornment of this world. So whoever does that has indeed been shy before Allah with the shyness that is His due." Its chain of transmission is daif.Tirmidhi narrated it (2458), and Ahmad (3671), both through the route of Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, Aban bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Sabbah bin Muhammad, from Mura Hamdani, from Abdullah bin Masud, as mentioned.Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith, we only know it through this route, from the hadith of Aban bin Ishaq, from Sabbah bin Muhammad."I say, it is as he said, for Sabbah bin Muhammad Bajali is daif, as stated in Taqrib. The hadith has another route, which is even weaker than what has been mentioned, containing a matruk (abandoned) narrator.
