I heard Numan giving a sermon in which he said, Umar mentioned the worldly comforts that people had come to enjoy and said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spending the entire day writhing in hunger, unable to find even poor-quality dates to fill his stomach."
سمعت النعمان يخطب قال: ذكر عمر ما أصاب الناس من الدنيا، فقال: لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يظل اليوم يلتوي ما يجد دقلا يملأ به بطنه.
