I heard Amr bin As say, "You have come to desire what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to shun, both morning and evening. You desire this world, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from it. By Allah, not a single night passed over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his lifetime except that what he owed was more than what he possessed."One of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "We saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taking loans."
Ahmad (17817) reported it from Yahya bin Ishaq, that is, Sayl-hini, from Yazid bin Abu Habib, from Ali bin Rabah, who said... and then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Ahmad (17773) also reported it from Abdullah bin Yazid, who said, Musa (that is, the son of Ali bin Rabah) told us, saying, I heard my father say, I heard Amr bin As address the people in Egypt, saying, "How far your guidance is from the guidance of your Prophetﷺ. He was the most detached from this world of all people, while you are the most eager for it of all people." Its chain of transmission is sahih.
