Umm Salama related that while she was lying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ under a woolen cloak, her menstruation began. She slipped away and put on the clothes she wore during her period.He asked, "Has your period come?"She replied, "Yes."So he called her back, and she lay down with him again under the cloak.
أن أم سلمة حدثتها قالت: بينا أنا مع رسول الله ﷺ مضطجعة في خميصة إذ حصت، فانسللت فأخذت ثياب حيضتي قال: أنفست؟ قلت: نعم، فدعاني فاضطجعت معه في الخميلة.
Bukhari narrated it in "Menstruation" (298), and this is his wording, and Muslim in "Menstruation" (296), both from the hadith of Hisham Dastawai, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, that Zaynab bint Umm Salama, then he mentioned the hadith.In the narration of Ibn Majah (637), by another route, from Abu Salama, from Umm Salama, she said, the Messenger of Allah said to me, "Come and get under the blanket with me."Busiri said in Zawaid, "Its isnad is sahih and its narrators are trustworthy."His words "in a khamisa" (with a fatha on the dotted kha and a plain sad) refer to a black cloak bearing markings, made of wool or some other material. The khamila is a garment with nap, that is, with fringe.
