Ibn Abban reported,

I brought water for ablution to Uthman bin Affan while he was sitting on the bench. He performed ablution, doing it well, then said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ perform ablution while he was sitting in this very spot, and he performed it well. He then said, 'Whoever performs ablution like this, then comes to the mosque and prays two rakahs, then sits down, his previous sins will be forgiven.'"He added, "And the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not be deceived.'"
