The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you were to truly rely upon Allah as He deserves to be relied upon, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out in the morning with empty stomachs and return in the evening with full ones."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لو أنكم توكلون على الله حق توكله، لرزقكم كما يرزق الطير، تغدو خماصا وتروح بطانا.
It was narrated by Tirmidhi (2344), Ibn Majah (4164), and Ahmad (205), and Ibn Hibban (730) and Hakim (4/318) graded it sahih, all of them through various routes from Abdullah bin Hubayra, from Abu Tamim Jayshani (who is Abdullah bin Malik bin Abu Ashm), from Umar bin Khattab, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith which we do not know except through this route."His saying "khimasan" means with bellies shrunk from hunger, and his saying "bitanan" means with bellies full.
