Uqba bin Amir reported,

Uqba bin Amir said, "I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me, 'Uqba bin Amir, maintain ties with whoever cuts you off, give to whoever withholds from you, and pardon whoever wrongs you.'"He continued, "Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me, 'Uqba bin Amir, control your tongue, weep over your sins, and let your home be enough for you.'"He continued, "Then I met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me, 'Uqba bin Amir, shall I teach you surahs the like of which was never sent down in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Quran? Let no night pass over you without your reciting them: "Say, He is Allah, the One" [Ikhlas 112:1], "Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak" [Falaq 113:1], and "Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind" [Nas 114:1].'"Uqba said, "So no night has passed over me without my reciting them, and it is only right that I should not abandon them, since the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself commanded me to recite them."

عن عقبة بن عامر قال

لقيت رسول الله ﷺ، فقال لي: يا عقبة بن عامر، صل من قطعك، وأعط من حرمك، واعف عمن ظلمك قال: ثم أتيت رسول الله ﷺ الله فقال لي: يا عقبة بن عامر، املك لسانك، وابك على خطيئتك، وليسعك بيتك قال: ثم لقيت رسول الله ﷺ فقال لي: يا عقبة بن عامر، ألا أعلمك سورا ما أنزلت في التوراة، ولا في الزبور، ولا في الإنجيل، ولا في الفرقان مثلهن، لا يأتين عليك ليلة إلا قرأتهن فيها: {قل هو الله أحد} و{قل أعوذ برب الفلق} و{قل أعوذ برب الناس} قال عقبة: فما أتت علي ليلة إلا قرأتهن فيها، وحق لي أن لا أدعهن وقد أمرني بهن رسول الله ﷺ.
