The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are four traits, whoever possesses all of them is a pure hypocrite, and whoever possesses one of them has a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it. When he is entrusted, he betrays. When he speaks, he lies. When he makes a pledge, he breaks it. And when he disputes, he behaves wickedly."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Faith (34), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (58), both from the hadith of Sufyan, from Amash, from Abdullah bin Mura, from Masruq, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he mentioned it.In a narration of Muslim, not through Sufyan, the wording is, "Whoever has one of these traits in him has a trait of hypocrisy in him." The word "khullah" (with fatha on the kha and shaddah on the lam) means a trait or characteristic.
