I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The worst traits a man can have are panicked greed and crippling cowardice."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: شر ما في رجل شح هالع، وجبن خالع.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (2511), Ahmad (8010, 8263), Ibn Hibban (3250), and Bayhaqi (9/170), all of them through routes from Musa bin Ali bin Rabah, from his father, from Abdul-Aziz bin Marwan, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
