The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Death-criers of the Arabs!" three times. "What I fear most for you is showing off and hidden desire."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: يا نعايا العرب، ثلاثا، إن أخوف ما أخاف عليكم الرياء، والشهوة الخفية.

Narrated by Abu Yaala, as found in Matalib Aliyah (3222), and by Bayhaqi in Zuhd (316), both by way of Abdullah bin Budayl bin Warqa Khuzai, from Zuhri, from Abbad bin Tamim, from his uncle (that is, Abdullah bin Zayd bin Asim Ansari), who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abdullah bin Budayl bin Warqa Khuzai. Ibn Main said of him, "Sound," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators in his Thiqat.
