Zirr reported that he and a companion of his passed by Ayman, where some young men of Quraysh had loosened their lower garments and were using them as whips to strike one another, while they were naked.Abdullah said, "When we passed by them, they said, 'These two are priests, so leave them alone.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out upon them, and when they saw him, they scattered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned in anger and entered, while I was behind the chamber. I heard him say, 'Glory be to Allah! They felt no shame before Allah, nor did they cover themselves out of regard for His Messenger.'"Umm Ayman, who was with him, said, "Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for them."Abdullah said, "Only with great difficulty did he ask forgiveness for them."
Ahmad (17711) and Abu Yaala (1540) both narrated it from Harun bin Maruf, who said, Abdullah bin Wahb narrated to us, who said, Amr (that is, Ibn Harith the Egyptian) narrated to us, that Sulayman bin Ziyad Hadrami told him, that Abdullah bin Harith bin Juz told him, and he mentioned it. Its chain is sahih. His saying "makhareeq" is the plural of makhraq, which is a garment that is rolled up and used by children to strike one another. His saying "tabaddadu" means they scattered. His saying "fabi-la-ee" with the lam vocalized with fatha, followed by a silent hamza, then a ya, with the ba functioning as a preposition, means after difficulty and exertion.
