Abu Hurairah reported,

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he was a handsome man. He said, "Messenger of Allah, I am a man who has been made to love beauty, and I have been granted of it what you see, to the point that I do not like anyone to surpass me even" — he said either "by the strap of my sandal," or "by the thong of my sandal" — "is that from arrogance?"He replied, "No. Rather, arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down on people."
