The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, grants the wrongdoer respite, but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape." Then he recited, "Such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe." [Hud 11:102].
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن الله عزوجل يملي للظالم، فإذا أخذه لم يفلته ثم قرأ: {وكذلك أخذ ربك إذا أخذ القرى وهي ظلمة إن أخذه أليم شديد} [هود: ١٠٢].
Bukhari narrated it in the tafsir (4686), and Muslim in birr and connections (11:2583), both of them through Abu Muawiya, who said, Burayd bin Abu Burda narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Musa, who mentioned it.
