The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no one who loves praise more than Allah, which is why He has praised Himself. And there is no one more jealous than Allah, which is why He has forbidden indecencies."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ليس أحد أحب إليه المدح من الله، أجل ذلك مدح نفسه، وليس أحد أغير من الله، من أجل ذلك حرم الفواحش.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage (5520), and Muslim in the Book of Repentance (2760:32), both from the hadith of Amash, from Abu Waail, from Abdullah, and he mentioned it. Muslim also narrated it (2760:35) through the route of Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid, from Abdullah bin Masud, in similar fashion, adding at the end, "No one loves excuse more than Allah does. It is for this reason that He sent down the Book and sent the messengers."
