The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "We have not made peace with them since we went to war with them, and whoever leaves any of them out of fear is not one of us."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ما سالمناهن منذ حاربناهن، ومن ترك شيئا منهن خيفة فليس منا.
Abu Dawud (5248), Ahmad (9588, 10741), and Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil (1338) all narrated it through various chains from Muhammad bin Ajlan, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.Ahmad (7366) and Ibn Hibban (5644) both narrated it through Sufyan (that is, Ibn Uyayna) from Ibn Ajlan, from Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj, from Ajlan, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. This adds "Bukayr bin Abdullah" into the chain.Both routes are preserved as valid. Daraqutni said in Al-Ilal (11/138), after presenting the discrepancy, "Perhaps Muhammad bin Ajlan heard it from his father, and then had it confirmed by Bukayr bin Ashaj."
