He ordered the killing of the short-tailed snake and the one with two stripes on its back. It is said that these two are the ones that snatch away eyesight and cause women to miscarry. In another narration from him, Abdullah bin Umar was one day at a building of his that was being demolished when he saw the gleam of a snake. He said, "Follow this snake and kill it."Abu Lubabah al-Ansari said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid the killing of snakes that are found in houses, except the short-tailed one and the one with two stripes, for these two snatch away eyesight and pursue what is in women's wombs."
