The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The snake is a fasiq, the scorpion is a fasiq, the mouse is a fasiq, and the crow is a fasiq."Qasim was asked, "May the crow be eaten?"He replied, "Who would eat it after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called it a fasiq?"
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: الحية فاسقة، والعقرب فاسقة، والفأرة فاسقة، والغراب فاسق. فقيل للقاسم أيؤكل الغراب؟ قال: من يأكله بعد قول رسول الله ﷺ فاسقا؟
Ibn Majah (3249) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, "Ansari told us, Masudi told us, Abdul-Rahman bin Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abu Bakr Siddiq told us, from his father, from Ayesha," and he related it.Masudi's memory became mixed up later in life, and Ansari here is Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muthanna. It is not known whether he heard from Masudi before or after this mixing occurred. However, Ahmad (25753) narrated it from Waki, from Masudi, with his chain of transmission, in similar wording, and Waki heard from him before the mixing occurred.
