The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Travel is a portion of torment. It deprives one of you of his sleep, his food, and his drink. So when one of you has fulfilled the purpose of his journey, let him hurry back to his family."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: السفر قطعة من العذاب، يمنع أحدكم نومه وطعامه وشرابه، فإذا قضى أحدكم نهمته من وجهه، فليعجل إلى أهله.
Malik narrated it in the chapter on seeking permission (39), from Sumayy, the freedman of Abu Bakr, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Bukhari also narrated it in the chapter on Umrah (1804), and Muslim in the chapter on leadership (1927), both of them through the route of Malik, in the same manner. His saying, "his concern," means his need. His saying, "from his destination," means from his intended goal.
