The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When night begins to fall, or when evening comes, hold back your children, for the devils spread out at that time. When an hour of the night has passed, you may release them. Shut your doors and mention the name of Allah, for Satan does not open a closed door. Tie up your waterskins and mention the name of Allah. Cover your vessels and mention the name of Allah, even if only by placing something across them. And put out your lamps."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Drinks (5623), and Muslim in the Book of Drinks (2012:97), both of them from the route of Rawh bin Ubada, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said, Ata informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, then he narrated it.
