The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted permission concerning a certain matter, but some people kept away from it. When this reached the Prophet ﷺ, he became so angry that anger showed on his face. He then said, "What is the matter with people who shun what I have been granted permission to do? By Allah, I am the most knowledgeable of them about Allah and the most intense among them in fear of Him."
رخص رسول الله ﷺ في أمر، فتنزه عنه ناس من الناس، فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ، فغضب حتى بان الغضب في وجهه، ثم قال: ما بال أقوام يرغبون عما رخص لي فيه، فوالله لأنا أعلمهم بالله وأشدهم له خشية.
Bukhari narrated it in al-Adab (6101), and Muslim in al-Fadail (2356:128), both of them through the route of Amash, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Ayesha, as I have mentioned.Abu Dawud narrated it (4788) through the route of Abdul-Hameed, meaning Hamani, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Ayesha, who said, "When something reached the Prophet ﷺ about a man, he would not say, 'What is wrong with so-and-so, that he says such and such?' Rather he would say, 'What is wrong with some people, that they say such and such?'"Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abdul-Hameed bin Abdul-Rahman Hamani, for he is hasan al-hadith.
