Someone who heard the Prophet ﷺ reported that he said, "Among my nation will be people who are given a reward like the reward of the earliest among them, for they denounce evil."In another wording, "There will be at the end of this nation a people who will have a reward like the reward of the earliest among them. They will enjoin good, forbid evil, and fight the people of strife."
أخبرني من سمع النبي ﷺ يقول: إن من أمتي قوما يعطون مثل أجور أولهم، فينكرون المنكر. وفي لفظ: إنه سيكون في آخر هذه الأمة قوم لهم مثل أجر أولهم، يأمرون بالمعروف، وينهون عن المنكر، ويقاتلون أهل الفتن.
Imam Ahmad (16592) narrated it from Zayd bin Hubab, who said, Sufyan (that is, Thawri) informed me, from Ata bin Saaib, who said, I heard Abdul-Rahman bin Hadrami say what has already been mentioned in the first wording.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Zayd bin Hubab bin Rayyan Kufi, for his hadith is hasan, except that he sometimes errs in narrating from Thawri, and this is not one of those cases. Ata bin Saaib is Abu Muhammad Thaqafi Kufi, who became confused in his memory late in life, but Sufyan Thawri narrated from him before that confusion set in.Abdul-Rahman bin Hadrami is Abdul-Rahman bin Ala Hadrami, as Yaqub bin Sufyan Fasawi narrated in Marifah wal-Tarikh (1/535), where he said, Hajjaj told us, Hammad told us, from Ata bin Saaib, who said, I heard Abdul-Rahman bin Ala Hadrami say, Someone who heard the Prophet ﷺ told me, and he mentioned what has already been given in the second wording.Ibn Hibban mentioned Abdul-Rahman bin Ala Hadrami in Thiqat, and in Mashahir Ulama al-Amsar he said that he was among the finest of the Tabiin.
