The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for me, I pour water over my head three times," gesturing with both his hands.
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أما أنا فأفيض على رأسي ثلاثا. وأشار بيديه كلتيهما.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Ghusl (254) and Muslim in the Book of Menstruation (327), both through Abu Ishaq, from Sulayman bin Surad, from Jubayr bin Mutim, who narrated the hadith.In Muslim's version, he said, "They disputed about ghusl in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and some of the people said, 'As for me, I wash my head like this and that.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'As for me, I pour three handfuls of water over my head.'"
