Umar asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the ritual bath required after major impurity. The reports agree on the following description. He would begin by pouring water over his right hand two or three times. Then he would dip his right hand into the vessel and pour water with it onto his private parts, while his left hand washed that area until it was clean. Then, if he wished, he would place his left hand on the earth, then pour water over his left hand until it was clean. Then he would wash his hands three times, rinse his nose and mouth, and wash his face and forearms three times each. When he reached his head, he did not wipe it but poured water over it.This, according to what was reported, was how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed his ritual bath.
Nasai narrated it (422), saying, Imran bin Yazid bin Khalid told us, saying, Ismail bin Abdullah, who is Ibn Samaa, told us, saying, Uzai informed us, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama, from Ayesha. And Amr bin Saad, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that Umar asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about ghusl from janaba, and the narrations are in agreement on this. He then mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan, containing a teacher of Nasai who is truthful. His saying "ittasaqat" means that they were arranged in order and agreed with one another.
