Ayesha reported,

The wives of the Prophet ﷺ were all gathered around him, not one of them was absent. Then Fatimah came walking, and her gait did not differ in the slightest from the gait of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he saw her, he welcomed her and said, "Welcome, my daughter."Then he seated her on his right or on his left and whispered something to her, at which she wept bitterly. When he saw her distress, he whispered to her a second time, and she laughed.I said to her, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ singled you out from among his wives for a private conversation, and yet you are weeping?"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up, I asked her, "What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to you?"She replied, "I would not disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She continued, "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, I said to her, 'I urge you by the right I have over you, please tell me what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to you.'She answered, 'As for now, yes. When he whispered to me the first time, he told me that Jibreel used to review the Quran with him once or twice every year, and that he had reviewed it with him twice this year. He said, "I do not see anything but that my time has drawn near, so fear Allah and be patient, for I am the best predecessor for you." So I wept the weeping you saw.When he saw my grief, he whispered to me the second time and said, "Fatimah, would you not be pleased to be the leader of the women of the believers," or "the leader of the women of this nation?" So I laughed the laughter you saw.'"

عن عائشة أم المؤمنين قالت

كن أزواج النبي ﷺ عنده، لم يغادر منهن واحدة، فأقبلت فاطمة تمشي، ما تخطئ مشيتها من مشية رسول الله ﷺ شيئا، فلما رآها رحب بها، فقال: مرحبا بابنتي ثم أجلسها عن يمينه أو عن شماله، ثم سارها فبكت بكاء شديدا، فلما رأى جزعها سارها الثانية فضحكت، فقلت لها: خصك رسول الله ﷺ من بين نسائه بالسرار، ثم أنت تبكين؟ فلما قام رسول الله ﷺ، سألتها ما قال لك رسول الله ﷺ؟ قالت: ما كنت أفشي على رسول الله ﷺ سره، قالت: فلما توفي رسول الله ﷺ قلت: عزمت عليك، بما لي عليك من الحق، لما حدثتني ما قال لك رسول الله ﷺ فقالت: أما الآن، فنعم، أما حين سارني في المرة الأولى، فأخبرني أن جبريل كان يعارضه القرآن في كل سنة مرة أو مرتين، وإنه عارضه الآن مرتين، وإني لا أرى الأجل إلا قد اقترب، فاتقي الله واصبري، فإنه نعم السلف أنا لك، قالت: فبكيت بكائي الذي رأيت، فلما رأى جزعي سارني الثانية فقال: يا فاطمة أما ترضين أن تكوني سيدة نساء المؤمنين، أو سيدة نساء هذه الأمة قالت: فضحكت ضحكي الذي رأيت.
